I was checking out the local paper online yesterday and found out that a lot of local strawberry farmers are now offering you pick ‘em for $1/2 quarts. So this afternoon J and I headed to one of the closest ones for some strawberry picking.
It was a gorgeous day to do so. While warm, there was just enough of a breeze to keep the heat away. And I walked away with 6 quarts of beautiful red berries for only $3!!! Some are going to my neighbor. She had a birthday party to attend today. The rest are mine. I’m thinking of splurging and buying some rhubarb at the store. It gets shipped in here and is pretty pricey. All because Florida doesn’t have the right climate for growing rhubarb. But since I have all these berries a strawberry rhubarb crisp is sounding oh so good right now. J was also thinking of some strawberry muffins. And it’d be really good in angel food cake.
So folks, I have lots of berries on hand. Any good recipes you’re willing to share?

d works very well as a light main dish or even as a side dish. I can easily see in the future adding chicken that’s either been marinated in the dressing or cooked with italian herbs for flavoring. This makes a nice alternative to those nights of spaghetti.
