Each morning when I open my eyes I say to myself:

I, not events, have the power to make me happy or unhappy today.  I can choose which it shall be.  Yesterday is dead, tomorrow hasn’t arrived yet.  I have just one day, today, and I’m going to be happy in it.

-Groucho Marx

Today, today I choose to be happy.  I’m happy that I have a well paying job that isn’t too bad.  Is it what I dreamed I’d be doing?  Heck no.  But then again, I still don’t know what I want to be when I grow up.  So for today, I’m happy with my job.  And I’m happy that I have some pretty decent co-workers.  I’m happy that they are encouraging and friendly.

I’m happy that I have a terrific family who loves and supports me.  And is willing to dog sit for me 🙂  I’m happy that I have a wonderful significant other who treats me like a princess (I’m still feeling all awww and glow-y from the birthday card I got from him), even though he says no more dogs 🙂  I’m happy that I have two fairly well behaved, ok make that 1 really well behaved and one that mostly behaves, dogs who are waiting for me at home and will greet me with doggy hugs and kisses before running outside after the squirrels.  And I’m happy that my health is doing well; that I’m physically able to run, no matter how slow I am.

I’m happy that today is a new day and I can make the choice to live healthy.    What are you happy for today?
